Workshops/Festivals 2011: (BE) Séminaire International de Musique Ancienne en Wallonie (SIMAW) (2011 July 4-9)

A WEEK OF INTENSIVE EXCHANGE AND MUSIC-MAKING

The international seminar of early music in Wallonie offers musicians the possibility of deepening all facets of their musical skills.

Music is much more than mastering techniques or having theorical knowledge: It is a true human journey, that nourishes itself with encounters and discoveries.

The Masterclasses are organized for:

  • Instrumentalists with an advanced or professional level wanting to improve their knowledge in early music.
  • Musicians with a classical formation who want to discover historical instruments.
  • Instrumental or vocal chamber music groups
  • Musicians wanting to meet others with similar passion for early music

with free entrance to concerts of the Festival Musical de Namur.

In addition to the Festival

MUSICAL FAIR from 5th till 7th July 2011

Taking place at the same time and next to the seminar, this fair aims to present different aspect of early music. Building instrument or editing scores are in fact essential to understand the ins and the outs of interpretation. During 3 days, you will find a bow makers and instrument makers, music editors and also a CD and a book store. This fair is open to the public each afternoon.
